Settling in Paris, Humboldt collaborated with prominent scholars, illustrators, and printers to compile, write, and self-finance an exhaustive multi-volume work titled Voyage aux régions equinoxiales du Nouveau Continent.
This massive undertaking resulted in a 30-volume publication that popularized modern physical geography, established international scientific networks, and cemented Humboldt as Europe's most famous scientist alongside Napoleon.
