    In an effort to forge a distinct intellectual identity and preserve proprietary communication within her community, Hildegard designed a completely artificial private language accompanied by an alternative script. She compiled a glossary of over nine hundred Germanic-sounding nouns representing celestial and earthly concepts. The the language was never adopted outside her immediate scriptorium and failed to achieve long-term universal utility.

    She demonstrated a clear ability to systematically map language components but failed to build a fully deployable, adaptable communicative standard.
